1984 2&3

"Asleep or awake, working or eating, indoors or out of doors, in the bath or in bed- no escape. Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimeters inside your skull." (27)

This is so important because even your thoughts aren't really your own with the thought police after you. These people aren't able to be private at all; not even in their heads. Some one is always watching them, waiting for them to give the slightest hint that they're even thinking about disloyal and it's off with their heads!
